  1. The movie “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” (directed by Charles Columbus) was nothing like the book by the same name. Artistic license was used on many occasions. The entire plot was rewritten leaving out major characters such as Clarisse, the camp bully. In addition, Luke is the character who set Percy up with the bolt in the movie but in the book it was Ares. In the book Annabeth and Percy are 12 years old however in the movie they are both 17 years old. Minor physical characteristics have also been changed. For example, Annabeth has blonde hair in the book however her hair is brown in the movie. Time constraints probably dictated how much detail could be incorporated into the movie and perhaps this also made some of the changes necessary. In conclusion, although the movie was somewhat similar to the book I do not feel that it was a good adaptation of the novel.

  2. I couldn't agree more Nick! The movie left out far too many key elements from the book and the characters were too different from the book to the movie, let alone if they weren't left out like Clarisse. Something else that you didn't point out though is that in the movie he knows right away that he is the son of Poseidon, where as in the book alloy of time is spent on him bring to figure out who his father was. When i watched the movie i didn't dislike it, but now after having read the book i feel that if i re-watch the movie i will dislike it.
